Asia-Hmong Development Organization
Found in 1993 by Yuepheng Xiong, Xai Yang, Koua Yang, and Tong Her, Asia-Hmong Development Organization (ADO) is a Hmong international development organization with 501 (c) (3) status. Its mission is to network with Hmong communities in Asia to identify their community dvelopment needs and to provide resources to address those needs.
Hmong help Hmong is the philosophy of ADO. Since 1993, ADO has assisted six small-scale projects, all in China. Photos of some of these projects are listed below.
In 1996, ADO assisted Professor Lei Anping of Xiangtan University, Hunan, with $2,000 to help acquire Hmong literature for his newly established Hmong (Miao) Studies Center. In 1997, ADO awarded $1,000 for Professor Guo Zhu to help support his research and writing on Hmong heroes and kings. Also in 1997, $1,000 was given to a White Hmong village in Yunnan to help its school children with supplies. In 1998, ADO contributed a little money toward the study of a Hmong girl, and the contribution was given to her via a group of Hmong American women. In 2002, ADO raised $3081 from the Hmong community in Fresno, California to help the Kaili Government and Tourism Bureau erect a statue of Hmong King Chiyou which were to be placed at the Xiang Lu Mountain. And in October of 2004, ADO raised $3,485 for Huang Ping Government to help develop Huangpiao valley to become a tourist site. Please look at our recent Huang Piao project for more information.
